Sensor Install/Reset
There are 2 modes to the sensor. ‘Install’ and ‘Run’ mode. We ship the sensors in ‘Install’ mode so after the INSTALL PROCEDURE the sensor is in ‘Run’ mode and ready to use. There are times of diagnostics or removing the sensor magnet that it needs to be put back in ‘Install’ mode. To get it from ‘Run’ to ‘Install’ mode you do the RESET PROCEDURE. After you do the RESET PROCEDURE it is put into ‘Install’ mode.
INSTALL PROCEDURE
Rear Wheel Position Sensor
- Clean and prep surface area with Scotch-Brite or similar.
- Press magnet housing onto splined shaft. Tap lightly with hammer if needed.
- Lube o-ring with oil or Vaseline and place in groove.
- Finger tighten the 4mm bolts with 2.5mm hex head and proceed to torque to 3 Nm | 2.21 lb ft | 26 lb in. Tighten in increments so o-ring compresses evenly. Anti-seize recommended.
- Route and plug in pigtail. Dielectric grease recommended. Use washer as a spacer if using rachet style bracket.
- Make sure all wheels are straight and steering wheel is centered.
- Cycle ignition On/Off 3 times in 5 second intervals without starting.
- Vehicle is now ready to drive.
HOW TO RESET
Rear Wheel Position Sensor
- Remove sensor bolts while leaving pigtail connected to vehicle harness.
- Turn ignition on without starting vehicle.
- Place magnet sleeve in cutout and rotate 3 full turns (1080 degrees) in either direction.
- Unplug connector or key ignition off.
- Sensor is now ready for install process.
*The next time power is supplied to sensor it will remember its new location so if accidently powered complete ignition sequence 3 times before resetting it again.
WHEN TO DO A RESET
- Uncertainty of proper install & ignition key sequence
- When magnet sleeve is removed from splined shaft.
- If front wheels, rear wheels and/or steering wheel will not center together. If any of those three are not straight.
WHEN A RESET IS NOT NECESSARY
- When receiving a new or replacement sensor from Goood Systems. The sensor is ready for install.
- Disconnecting battery.
- Front wheel alignment. If rear wheels are straight and steering wheel is straight you can do a front wheel alignment.
